Cross Stitch Collection
From "Our favourite products for 2002" section -
"A simple but brilliant idea, the laplight sits on your lap like a tray and illuminates your fabric from below, making it particularly effective when you're working on dark fabric" "Stitchers everywhere will love this new laplight, developed by Eyebright Framing. The innovative new product is a simple but practical idea that will open up a range of cross stitch designs that you may not have tackled before. The Laplight sits snugly on your lap, just like a tray, and illuminates your fabric so you can see the weave more clearly. This will be especially useful for stitching big projects on dark fabrics, such as our tiger on page 38. The light was developed by a keen cross stitcher: 'We wanted to design a product that would make it easier to stitch in any light or on any material. It has to be safe, not too bright and easy to use'."
Quick&Easy
Can you see the Light
"Anyone who has ever tried cross stitching on dark fabrics will know how tricky it can be to see the holes. We remember designer Jane Greenoff once describing how she clenched a torch between her knees while she stitched, but you'll be glad to hear that there is a better way! Laplight is simply a lamp in a box which sits on your lap. The soft light shines out from under an opal acrylic sheet to illuminate every hole in your aida to perfection. Laplight also comes with its own built-in cushion to make it comfy to work with (the whole thing only weighs about the same as one and a half bags of sugar). There's even an additional filter supplied so that you can illuminate your light-coloured fabrics too. We're looking forward to the version which also gives you a gentle suntan!" "Lots of you contacted us to say how excited you are about the new laplight, a great gadget which sits on your knee and shines a gentle light through the weave of your fabric to make stitching even easier. Anyone who has ever tried cross stitching on dark fabrics will know how tricky it can be to see the holes!"
The World of Cross Stitching
"That's right, this is exactly what its name says it is - a light that sits on your lap, shining up through the material you're working on. It's made with a solid wood frame, a strong acrylic sheet on top, and runs on the mains power. This is a great idea for throwing light on your work!"
Mary Hickmott's NEW STITCHES
"The Laplight by Eyebright is a practical product for all stitchers, especially when working on dark material like black Aida or when working in the evenings. Place the cushion on your lap under your frame or hoop and the light shines upwards, enabling you to see the holes in the fabric more clearly. The rectangular fluorescent light, measuring 14.5 x 9.5 ins (37 x 24 cms), complies with the electrical standards and gives off a little heat. In testing the Laplight we found it to be very comfortable and useful product, although the light can be slightly strong in some situations. It depends on your preference, but the manufacturer also provides a blue or green transparent sheet to soften the light if necessary."

Transform your life "Stitching will never be the same again once you've invested in a laplight. Recommended by thrilled customers as perfect for tracing embroidery designs onto fabric and for putting on your knees whilst sewing. Laplight is set to take the stitching world by storm - just plug it in and go."
